Current Openings
Head Priest (Pujari)
We are seeking an experienced Head Priest to lead religious ceremonies, rituals, and spiritual activities at our Hindu Cultural Center. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Hindu scriptures, rituals, and traditions.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily pujas, aartis, and other religious ceremonies
- Conduct special rituals for festivals such as Diwali, Holi, Navratri, etc.
- Officiate life cycle ceremonies including weddings, naming ceremonies, and funeral rites
- Provide spiritual guidance and counseling to community members
- Train and supervise assistant priests and volunteers
- Ensure proper maintenance of the temple sanctum and ritual items
Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Hindu priest
- Thorough knowledge of Vedic rituals, mantras, and Hindu scriptures
- Proficiency in Sanskrit and at least one regional Indian language
- Ability to explain the significance of rituals to diverse audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
- Willingness to adapt to the needs of a multicultural community
Assistant Priest
We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Priest to support our Head Priest in conducting various Hindu rituals and ceremonies. This role is ideal for someone with knowledge of Hindu traditions who wishes to grow in their priestly service.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Priest in daily pujas and religious ceremonies
- Perform abhishekams and archanas for devotees
- Help prepare for major festivals and special events
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanctity of the temple area
- Assist with preparation of prasadam and ritual items
- Engage with community members and explain basic rituals
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in Hindu priestly duties
- Knowledge of common Hindu rituals and ceremonies
- Ability to recite common mantras and slokas
- Basic understanding of Sanskrit and Hindu scriptures
- Good communication skills in English and preferably Hindi or a regional Indian language
- Respectful attitude and willingness to learn
Vedic Ritual Specialist
We are seeking a knowledgeable Vedic Ritual Specialist to conduct specialized Vedic ceremonies and yagnas. This position requires deep expertise in specific Vedic traditions and can be part-time or on a contractual basis for specific ceremonies.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct specialized Vedic rituals such as homas, yagnas, and specific ceremonial pujas
- Perform astrological consultations and recommend appropriate remedial rituals
- Guide families through complex traditional ceremonies
- Provide expertise for rare or specialized religious observances
- Offer classes on Vedic traditions, mantras, and their significance
- Document and preserve traditional ritual knowledge
Requirements:
- Specialized training in Vedic rituals and ceremonies
- Deep knowledge of at least one Vedic tradition (Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, or Atharvaveda)
- Experience conducting complex rituals such as homas and yagnas
- Understanding of Hindu astrology (Jyotish) preferred
- Excellent knowledge of Sanskrit and ritual procedures
- Ability to explain complex traditions to diverse audiences
